The MacBook charger can become warm during normal use. Stop using the cable immediately and get a new replacement cable. The removable USB-C cable is prone to get damage by bending the plugs at the two ends. If your MacBook starts charging when you wiggle the USB-C cable, the cable is not connected properly. Believe it or not, these simple checks often fix the MacBook battery not charging issue.
Make sure the USB-C cable is fully inserted into the charger. If your model isn't listed above, you can create a new page.In addition, the USB-C charger uses a removable USB-C charging cable.
The Debian Mactel Team's goal is to maintain the packages necessary to run Debian on Apple computers. m68k has not been supported since etch (2007), but packages still exist in unstable. Powerpc is also a supported architecture. Most pages refer to current (Intel-based) models, but there are now some arm64 models.
Even older Apple computers (pre-1998 Macs) run on Motorola 68000 (m68k) processors. Older Apple computers (1998–2005) run on PowerPC processors, and boot using OpenFirmware. All Apple phone and tablets use the ARM architecture and from 2021 Apple switched to ARM for their Macbook and Mac mini lines. All Apple (non-phone) computers released between 20, run on Intel processors, and boot using EFI (a successor to the earlier BIOS). If you need help to get Debian running on your hardware, please have a look at our user support channels where you may find specific channels (mailing list, IRC channel) dedicated to certain types of hardware. The purpose is not to duplicate the Debian Official Documentation, but to document how to install Debian on some specific hardware. Therefore potential buyers would know if that hardware is supported and owners would know how get the best out of that hardware. DebianOn is an effort to document how to install, configure and use Debian on some specific hardware.
